[sticky post] Fanfic Master List

This entry was gettig messy, so I decided it was time to take a page from a friend and break up my archive list. Now you have seven categories. Simply go to the one you want.

Yet another attempt...Collapse )

Interesting visual I had

I was meditating, using a program aimed for writers to release creativity and break through barriers. Tonight's meditation had the listener imagining breathing in acceptance and breathing out negativity and judgment.

You know what I imagined on the exhale? A dark cloud like the Doctor going through detox.

Hey, it made me smile. And even feel like I was letting go of more things. :)

Question for my LJ friends

I still go and check out FF.N because some stories just aren't posted at AO3 or here. I check three fandoms regularly: Doctor Who (with a 10 and Donna filter, aimed to not show stories that also list River ot Rose - because that's not something I'm interested in reading), Broadchurch, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

I know writers who won't read others' works so to not create potential for being accused of stealing ideas. I understand the thinking behind that, even though I get ideas from reading others' works. I also don't mind using something from another series as long as the original source is noted and a real effort is made to fit it into the new fandom.

But completely copying a work and just putting different characters in it? Without admitting to the original source material? That's a no-no.

I recent spotted a story on the L&O:CI feed that gave me pause. I'm not naming the title yet, but as I was reading it I kept thinking "this sounds very familiar". Within a few chapters they gave a nickname to a minor character that immediately told me why I knew the story. It was lifted almost completely from the second to last episode of the third season of Bones.

Do I post a review commenting on it? Do I send the author a PM instead? What would you do?

Camp NaNo victory - again!

Word count differed on validation, but it was in my favor. 279 words added.

I'll let y'all know about my winner goodies. I might have a code or two that could be up for grabs, depending on who's fastest to contact me. :D

Now... back to my regular life. Loads to do to get things going like I want them to be. :D

FIC: Innocence Debate (1/1)

Title: Innocence Debate
Genre: Doctor Who
Rating: T
Author: tkel_paris
Summary: A random comment from the Doctor triggers a challenge from Donna.
Disclaimer: Not mine, never mine. Insert sad face.
Dedication: bas_math_girl, with whom I finally shared a crack!fic-a-thon with. After a few false starts. And anyagotr’s husband, David, for saying the line that I knew had to be used as a prompt.
Author’s Note: Decided to use a line prompt that I wrote down from one night with Whovian friends who used to live in the Valley. Dialogue only, which I’m not sure I’ve ever done for DW.

FIC: Not Everyone Should Be Saved (5/5)

Title: Not Everyone Should Be Saved
Genre: Doctor Who
Rating: T
Author: tkel_paris
Summary: When the TARDIS is caught in a loop, Twelve realizes that a new weapon has been created to use against him thanks to an earlier act of what he thought was compassion. The only way he can free the TARDIS is to get a message to an earlier self to prevent two critical things from happening, even though it will cause a dangerous paradox.
Disclaimer: Not mine, and probably never will be.
Dedication: tardis_mole, for reminding me about this one inadvertently during our prompt-a-thon. We had so much fun!
Author’s Note: One of the many things I thought someone should’ve thought of before ending the Library episodes. And so I’m righting a few things. It may seem cruel, but there are pointed questions behind the actions within. Along with pointing out ways the solutions of the episodes could’ve gone wrong, and… well… did.

And apologies to Bill, as well as Pearl Mackie. When I wrote this, we had almost nothing to go on for what Bill is like. So to not get her totally wrong… I used a convenient plot device. Oops. :D

Chapter One / Chapter Two / Chapter Three / Chapter Four

Chapter One / Chapter Two / Chapter Three

A little fail-safe I set up. Call it my last gift to you. Oh, I forgot to give you this one.Collapse )

“Yeah, you can rest as long as you keep running,” the Doctor snapped.Collapse )

Chapter One

The Doctor slowly stepped out of the TARDIS and closed the door behind him.Collapse )

FIC: Royal Bloodlines (1/1)

Title: Royal Bloodlines
Genre: Doctor Who
Rating: T (probably for language)
Author: tkel_paris
Summary: Gallifrey survived the Time War, but they need fresh blood. The Doctor reluctantly suggests marrying a Human woman, but someone with influence over him has some requirements before granting consent.
Disclaimer: The summary is enough to say that I own nothing except this idea. Oh, and the Time Lords are brutal when they don’t like someone. Just a warning.
Dedication: tardis_mole, with whom I shared a plot bunny marathon lasting several days. We each did a version of this particular plot bunny, waiting to share until we’d each written our drafts. If you're on Moley's list, you can read The Noble Motte.
Author’s Note: Inspired by visiting Castle Cardiff and learning that the name “Mott” implies Celtic or Gaelic royal roots dating back to the earliest known kingdoms in the land.

Which will it be? Dying out completely, or starting new forms of Gallifreyans?Collapse )
