*deep sigh* Update on health

My dental office was able to get me into a doctor's office about 15 minutes away, with an appointment only 90 minutes after they called to ask for one for me. They got me back before I finished my paperwork since I mentioned I suspected a fever. It was a struggle to speak.

Good news: strep test was negative. Bad news is there IS an infection. Am now waiting for the antibiotic, the cough suppressant, and a steroid (for the inflammation that's making my throat feel worse) from my local store. And it only cost (so far) my general visit copay.

I liked the doctor I saw. Kind lady who did her best to work with my trouble talking. Since this also counted as an establishing care visit she ordered some blood work. (Did get a giggle from seeing a copy of some silly picture: a pig on a skateboard, wearing a helmet, and in the air. Caption? "Swine Flew")

Today's classes are covered. Am waiting for word that tomorrow's are too, because she told me to stay home today and tomorrow.

I finally ate something and got some liquid down. Noticed that it didn't hurt so much to swallow. Maybe I'm already starting to turn even while waiting for the medications to be filled. So... soft stuff and liquids only.

Depending on how I feel, I might post the chapter of "Ginger Goddess 3" that's ready. We shall see.

Yup, it's some kind of bacterial infection, though, if she prescribed an antibiotic. Good that she's got you stuff to help with the other symptoms as well. Sometimes, OTC (over the counter) is not quite enough. Yes, you have to give the antibiotics at least 24 hours before going back into the fray.

I hope this does it for you, and that you feel better soon. Then you can keep on writing!! Really, get well.

She did urge me to get some Tylenol and chloreseptic spray, one to help with the fever and the other for throat discomfort. Will see how it works. As I just told ali, I've taken the first doses.

Thanks. I think I may take a nap first. :)

Napping is a great idea. You need rest.

*snort* Swine Flew. There's one of those posters at Cheeky's doctor office as well.

I have to say I love the prescription cough suppressants. Usually there's codeine and it helps me sleep so wonderfully. And it doesn't taste as terrible as Robitussin ( though the bottle does say its a Tussin.

I do hope you feel better soon and the antibiotics do their job. :)

It lightened my mood, which I needed.

There used to be this really good cough syrup, prescription only. It worked marvels. I was once recovering from something and had to take it even though I was working. So I had a dose prepared and took it as soon as I was parked at work.

Finally have the meds and took the first doses. I have two more doses of two of them to take today, which is fine with me. And yes, I can't wait for them to do their job. :)

Codeine is the best cough suppression med I know of.

Hydrocodone was the cough medicine I was thinking of. It worked. But for some reason they stopped making it in a syrup form. And what I got isn't the same stuff. For night I'll have to double the dose like she said I could if the base wasn't working.

And believe me, I will. I am not having a coughing fit keep me up at night again.

Yes, I know about those fits, they are horrible. You're right, the formulations have changed and aren't as effective.

And I felt it last night. Doubling the dose didn't work. I need those fits to be OVER tonight... If I'm well I'll be back to teaching, and Wednesdays include an early morning class. :/

Thank goodness you've finally got some antibiotics; there are times when you have to admit defeat and go that route. *hugs* Just pamper yourself for now, as you've earned the rest. And I hope you feel better soon. Unfortunately throat infections are one of the hazards of working with children they don't warn you about (as was swine flu when it was rampant here a couple of years ago. Not a fun thing to have at all).

Working on that. Sleep is the next step in pampering myself. I'm just glad all of my classes have been covered so far. Just waiting to hear that tomorrow afternoon's class is also covered. A coach I know is covering my morning class, so I know that one's in VERY good hands. (Besides, he can always point out to the kids that if they misbehave he'll tell me and I'll tell their parents, and then let them hear it from me next week. If it came to that.) See, throat colds are what I'm used to. I don't think I've had an infection since... 2004 when I also developed a TMJ disorder from the ear infection. (Man, it's been that long?!?!)

Good to see you have access again. Did you notice that I posted an entire MAAN fic this month? :D

Good to hear you could see a doctor and order some medications. It wasn’t a strep throat, but it still sounds unpleasant :( *hugs* Take it easy for the next days and as always get better soon!! :3

*hugs* Thanks. Now if the coughing will go away so I can get some good sleep... :(

Oh sweetie…I wish I had some fic ready to post to cheer you up :/

Codeine and promethazine in syrup is great for coughs and helping you sleep…well, promethazine is the best part of it really, cause while I love codeine and it made my life better for yrs, for the last like 5 yrs it kinda makes me nauseous and I've never been able to sleep with it, just doze real lightly, which can be nice unless you actually NEED to sleep!

I hopefully have some catch up time, I've been so looking forward to the 2 chapters I have left *rubs hands and dives in*

Your comments are doing nicely right now. And make me hopeful for fic from you eventually. I can take a rain check on that. :)

If I have another bad night's sleep I'm stopping by the pharmacy and asking for advice. But I can't take much more of these sleepless nights or I run the risk of getting sick again. :/ Any sleep would be WONDERFUL right now... And I'm just about to try my luck with sleep tonight after I take my final meds for the day.

There are so many details to enjoy. The lines I gave Dogberry that gave Benedick a headache... *giggles* Innogen and Maria's words to Beatrice in Chapter 8... Yeah, those might be my faves right now. :)
